Peter practises in the field of insurance litigation.
He had close on 20 years’ experience in insurance litigation in South Africa where he initially worked for Deneys Reitz Attorneys (now part of Norton Rose Fulbright) until October 1997 before operating his own ‘boutique’ insurance law firm, O’Brien Attorneys, for a period of 11 years.
Peter immigrated to Australia in 2008 where he worked for Wotton + Kearney Insurance Lawyers as a legal consultant at their Sydney office before joining LMI Group in late 2009.
He has expertise in advising on a variety of insurance matters, both litigious and uncontested, including claims involving material damage and business interruption, professional indemnity, local and international product liability, contractors all risks and liability, fraud, commercial fires, engineering/construction accidents, maritime matters, and aviation claims (light aircraft and helicopter accidents).
Peter‘s 26 years of experience, which includes litigation in South Africa, London and Australia, enables him to render advice to insureds, brokers and insurers on a wide array of policy wordings and insurance claims.
